Music of Indonesia is very diverse, reflecting its cultural diversity. This is not so surprising given that almost every one of the 17,508 islands has its own cultural and historical identity. Most of the musical instruments used in Indonesian (traditional and folk) music such as metallphone drums are common among southeast Asian countries such as Cambodia and Malaysia but yet their music is very distinct very each other.
